Home to quality German Wirehaired Pointers with Champion Field and Show pedigrees.
Our family always has had dogs. When we got our first German Wirehaired Pointer, my dad wanted a good hunting dog and I wanted something that I could show. We looked at the different sporting breeds and were impressed with the German Wirehair Pointer and the fact that many of them were both showing and competing in field trials. We then started with dogs that had bloodlines which combined these two important traits, as well as good health and temperaments. We couldn't have gotten luckier when we purchased Jackie (CH. Cynister Idawires Nurse Jackie JH). She obtained championship titles easily and loves to hunt. Jackie now has a Junior Hunter title and we are excited about the future of her and our other young dogs.
When we breed a litter, it is important to us that the pups have the potential to be great hunting dogs and great show dogs. A GWP should be confident in the field and the show ring as well as in the home, where most of our dogs spend the majority of their time. A dog that doesn't meet our standards for hunting ability, temperament, health and conformation will not be included in our breeding program. We strive to produce dogs that are great family companions, partners in the field and champions in the show ring.

Each litter planned by Ghostwind is bred with the goal of producing dogs that are not only great hunting dogs but also meet the breed standard. And, most importantly we will not breed dogs that do not have outstanding temperaments.
We consider the strengths and weaknesses of our females when deciding which male to breed to, to avoid the potential of "doubling up" on undesirable faults. We breed with the intention of keeping a pup from the litter to hunt with and compete with, and to be part of our family. We prefer to breed to dogs that have strong pedigrees, but first and foremost breed based on the individual dogs involved.

Jackie is showing a lot of potential in the field. She loves the water and has a stylish point. She is crazy for her birds. She has an excellent coat and lovely structure and has been very competitive in the show ring.

Caper was Select Bitch at the 2019 GWPC National and Regional Show, finishing the year as the #5 GWP in Breed stats and was the #2 Owner Handled dog. Caper also obtained her UKC Champion title as well as a Novice Scent Work Title and Detective Dog Classic title.
Caper is that girl that you just love having around with nice conformation, and hunting ability. She is gorgeous, loves working for you no matter if it's in the field, or conformation ring and has a personality that makes you smile. She has a nice wiry coat with dark liver pigment, with proper proportions and effortless movement. She loves everyone and always has us laughing at her shenanigans. Caper easily finished her championship by getting Best of Breed three days in a row for five-point majors. Looking forward to getting out in the field.

Envy easily finished her championship from the Bred By class in under a year. Envy is well balanced, has a nice coat and great movement. She is super birdy, loves water and we are looking forward to starting her field work.

Charm easily finished her championship from the puppy class and then was the Winner of the 2019 GWPCA Puppy Futurity and also received an Award of Merit in a very large lineup of nice dogs. We will be showing her in the upcoming year after she has grown up a bit.

Bullet is one of those dogs that whether he is on a staunch point in the field or moving around the show ring, you cannot help but notice. He is a moderate and balanced boy with nice bone, great topline and a perfect tail set. He has wonderful movement with good reach and drive, and the correct harsh wiry coat which is the breed's most distinguishing feature. He has a fantastic outgoing personality and is easily trained. Finished his championship title from the classes going Best of Breed over the champions in two weekends. He is beginning his fieldwork. He has a lot of natural ability and drive. Looking forward to seeing what he can do.
